Sports Rehabilitation
One of the things that makes The Athlete Lab unique, is our comprehensive holistic approach. We have several foundational beliefs that have been formed from over 2 decades of sports medicine experience, 4 decades of physical fitness/strength and conditioning experience and from data on 90,000+ sport and tactical athletes across 5 countries. We believe for a sport or tactical athlete to perform at their very, very best, they have to have a good foundational base from which they are operating. Their movement is key!!! But movement is also impacted by an athlete’s overall physical health, mental health, nutritional health and spiritual health, all which should be considered.
How an athlete’s body moves, how their limbs absorb force, how they transfer kinetic energy across joints is vital for mitigating risk for injury and driving performance to a whole new level. How your limbs move and absorb force is one of the most telling things about your injury potential and performance. It is also what research labs look at when looking at mitigating risk for injury (specifically ACL), rehabilitating after an injury or when looking to make safer and more informed return to sport decisions after an ACL reconstruction. Poor movement results in loss energy and force production. This has a direct impact on athletic speed, force production and agility. Poor movement also results in abnormal force attenuation. This means that tissues are loaded differently than they were designed for. At The Athlete Lab, we not only know that but have developed technology to assess that and proprietary methodologies to improve. This means faster and safer return to sport and improved performance.
At The Athlete Lab, we not only have decades of experience assessing thousands of sport and tactical athletic movement but we are also actively involved in movement data collection in 5 countries and international research studies on ACL injury prevention. This allows the Athlete Lab to constantly be on the cutting edge of the care and treatment provided to you with the most advanced care that sports science has to offer. This has also led to our founder, Dr. Nessler presenting these techniques and methodologies at sports medicine conference all over the globe and the development of several commercial injury prevention programs for sport and tactical athletes.
At The Athlete Lab, we also know the importance of nutrition and what an athlete puts in there body has a direct impact on soft tissue healing, the bodies ability to recover between workouts, the speed of post surgical healing and impact on athletic performance. Good wholesome sources of protein, quality organic supplements that actually work plays a critical role to today’s athlete. At The Athlete Lab, our sports physical therapist know this and may recommend a supplement program for an athlete based on their evaluation.
At The Athlete Lab, we are also a functioning research facility. This means our facility may be actively involved in 3-4 research studies at one time. This means all our sports physical therapists not only track their outcomes but also get to compare this to best in class. The Athlete Lab will also compare prescribed treatments to constantly evaluate what protocols help athletes get the most efficient, cost effective and impactful plan of care. The athletes treated at The Athlete Lab reap the rewards by ensuring our team is providing you with the best of the best. Helping you make the impossible…….. possible!
